Ratepayers Plan Miniota Meeting February 9

The annual meeting of the Ratepayers of the Unincorporated Village of Miniota will be held at the Municipal Hall on Wednesday February 9 at 7 p m for the financial report and election of a Village Committee representative and other business. John Spalding, Secretary. A combined service to the Canadian Pacific Railway Company marks 140 years of operation as travelling passenger agents Henry R Ibbotson Am brose E Lalande and James McKenna retire after 44 53 and 43 years with CPR. The CPR will run forage crop seed poultry distribution and demonstration cars in Alberta to aid agricultural development centered from Lethbridge and extending to Lacombe the Saskatchewan boundary Red Deer and Rocky Mountain House.

Masquerade Ball prizes on view at Miniota store

Local notes say Mrs H Cusack and her son flenny left Friday for Reston to visit sick relative R Cusack. Prizes for the Masquerade Ball at Miniota hall next Friday the 7th are on display at J PD Forsyths in Miniota. The Girls Auxiliary Anglican church met at President Mrs A Spencer's home and enjoyed tobaggining and lunch at The Vicarage.

Nurse Beard Finds Mother In Melville Improved Health

Nurse Beard learned on Wednesday night her mother Mrs. C. D. Beard, now in Melville, was very ill and asked to come. The report states Mrs. Beard is now much improved in health.

Pleasant Anglican social and dance in Miniota hall

A pleasant evening hosted by the W A of the Anglican church in Miniota featured a social with yanes and contests, a short musical program by Miss Dudley, M Johnson, Gladys and Irene Henderson, Donald Forsyth, Kathleen Plewes, all well received and encored, followed by a dance by local youth.

Ladies rink triumphs at Brandon bonspiel events

The Brandon ladies rink won prizes in the bonspiel with an undefeated run to Thursday, then lost the Grand Challenge to Mrs. Masons of Winnipeg, earning third prize of four silver ten spoons and six tea sets. They won first prize in the merchants event defeating Mrs Delmages rink with four Oyster linen cloths and serviettes. Miniota curlers plan to send rinks to Hamida bonspiel Friday and Saturday.
