Meteors team hosts 10 cafeteria toast in home of Mrs. T Jasper. Old time dancer in Beulah at 11. Arrow River hosts dance at 11. St Valentine Whist Drive and Dance at Miniota. Dog races hockey game and Carnival from 2 pm on 19. Whist drive and dance in Miniota school on 25 under open air rink sponsorship.
Wilfred Barrett visits his sister in Rapid City. Wallace Coles leaves for Brandon for medical treatment. Notice and Sewing Sale promotes cur 9 to 29c. Mintota United church meeting for A.Y.P.A. and Y.P.A. on Wednesday February 2 at 7.30 pm. In Mintota rink listing for Winnipeg bonspiel, J D Forsyth should read H G Forsyth. R M Oliver attends Dominion Legion convention at Fort William. Marriage announced in Winnipeg on February 2 of Dulcie Fry to Edgar H Bally, former Royal Bank manager at Miniota.
The January WMS gathering met Wednesday at Miss H M Turner’s home with 12 attendees. The session opened the year with a focus on The Church and the Community and included Mrs C E Wythe summarizing chapter 4 of the study book.
Birth notices record five newborn daughters: Elmer and Mrs Johns of Crandall welcomed a daughter at Shoal Lake hospital on January 2. R and Mrs Scott of Crandall welcomed a daughter at Hamiota hospital on January 15. Robert G Mitchell and Mrs Mitchell of Arrow River welcomed Donna Hanna at Miniota hospital on January 28. J Jensen and Mrs Jensen of Isabella welcomed Lorna Cecille at Comox hospital in British Columbia on January -- all noting the mothers’ and fathers’ names and locales.
C A Flower left for California while W H Mackee returned from England. Mrs John McKenzie of Arrow River died at Brandon. Gordon Rennie of Miniots married Wilma Hogeland at Hamiota.
A brief league table lists teams with Played Won Last Draw and Points reflecting a close title chase. Top clubs edge each other in a contest of wins and draws as season results finalize.
Wallace O Callaghan returned from Vlanders Ontario last week as the flu epidemic eases in the district. Excursion passengers to Winnisp eg and Brandon included Spence Littlejohn John and Donald Sutherland and Mrs J B Mitchell. C G L T met with ten present Georgina Torrance presiding. The Y P A met at E Sinclair’s home with Jim McKinnon in charge. A candle light worship led by McKinnon Sinclair Tennant and E Tennant. The Culture Period featured Woodcraft demonstration by J M Elliott. A social time with Sticks and a kitchen table and book shelf project were shown followed by lunch.
