Early seedbed prep and weed control boost yields
Experimental Farm Swift Current reports Chinook wheat yields rise and dockage fall when seeding is delayed from April 24 to May 22, with weeds reduced from 25 percent to 2 percent. Manitoba tests show early spraying greatly enhances benefits, while late spraying loses value. Careful pre seeding tillage and early weed control give best returns.
