Rifle Association Elects 1909 Officers at Milliola Meeting
The Rifle Association held its annual meeting at Milliola last Friday and elected J. Evans as Captain, R. Clarke as 1st Lieutenant, G. Larkins as 2nd Lieutenant, with W. E. Vorret as Secretary. The group voted to hold the annual shoots on July 10 and 16, hoping future enthusiasm from Northside members.

English Church Bazaar A Grand Success
The Bazaar at Miniota Hall organized by the Church of England's Woman's Auxiliary drew steady crowds from early afternoon to 11 pm. Receipts neared 225 dollars with about 175 dollars net profit after expenses. candy and fancy booths sold quickly, auctions cleared remaining stock around 10 pm, and a musical program enhanced the event.

Birtle Seed Fair and Poultry Show Highlights
The seed grain event at Birtle on December 17 attracted many, with Carson Glenn winning red fyre wheat and barley and C P Palmer taking white oats after disqualification for wild oats. Poultry entries were strong, led by W T Beirnes T Vaut and J C Orr, as Deputy Minister Golden judged at the banquet.

Miniota and Omar Schools Host Christmas Tree Event
The Annual Xmas Tree and Entertainment for Miniota and Omar schools occurred Monday evening at the Miniota School House. A large audience witnessed a lengthy program with children performing well and Mr Long as Santa Claus. Gifts were distributed, and the departure was around 11 30. A similar event will be held at Omar school next week.

New Chemical Fire Engine Test Fails To Fire
A Thursday evening test of the new chemical fire engine yielded a frozen unit despite a large bonfire to thaw it. Volunteers worked all day but storage issues left the engine inoperable, drawing sarcasm from spectators. With improved conditions the brigade is expected to manage these initial challenges.
