Work continues on the open street rink flooding and should be ready soon. Friday night offers the public a chance to see a minstrel show at Miniota hall while organizations hold their annual meetings. Secretaries are invited to bring their club cards for publication.
Bert Clark and Walter Lor were in a car that turned turtle near the United Church on Friday afternoon. The vehicle suffered little damage and continued to run.
Friday's election produced a tight result with F. Mark 17 and W. Coburn 91, majority 2. The notice urges arrears payers to settle by offering produce rather than cash. The Busy Bee Sewing group held a lesson at Mrs Ro Rains with a lunch. Train times from Miniota to Winnipeg changed for weekend connections.
The Miniota Agricultural Society held its annual meeting Saturday afternoon with Mobt. Peel presiding. No fair was held this year so few items were discussed and officers and directors were re elected. A concert is planned for Friday night featuring new jokes and songs. A public meeting is set for Wednesday December 16 at 8 p m in Miniota Hall to discuss commercial fertilizers. The Consolidated Mining and Smelting Co of Canada Ltd will provide a speaker and show test results from hundreds of plots across western Canada. Canadian National Railways announces reduced roundtrip fares for Christmas and New Year to bring families together. Nonresident teachers and students receive special allowances during official holidays, with fares at 1.25 times the regular single rate. General public get limited period concessional fares, and Westerners visiting Eastern Canada or overseas can use tickets for three to five months.
The United Church held a well cited Young Peoples service on Sunday night led by President Don McLennan. The Young Peoples choir sang How Beautiful Upon the Mountains, a sextette including Misses F. Berwick I. Cornish P. Dorward Kk. Lynch I. Dorward and L. Chalmers performed Now Doth the Sun with praise. Irene Leland read well and Ina Cornish presided at the organ while Mrs Lynch directed the sextette. A Isabella conference report was read by delegate L Reynolds and the talk on Faith by Don McLennan was described as very interesting.
