U G G Shareholders Back Co operation Over Pools In Winnipeg
The United Grain Growers annual meeting in Winnipeg spanning November 1 20 and 21 rejected selling elevators to wheat pools by a nine to one margin and instead backed a plan to coordinate the three provincial pools with the Saskatchewan Co operative Elevator Company and U G G to handle both pool and non pool grain. Delegates passed a policy to avoid strife and create efficient marketing for farmers who wish to use either pool or non pool channels, detailing joint handling and sale of grain at country and terminal elevators. The session adjourned after debate and elected four retiring directors by large margins, ending with thanks to directors management and staff.
