Manitoba Oversea Agricultural Exchange Offers Travel for Youth

Manitoba Agriculture promotes a international work exchange for youths 18 to 25 with farm experience. Participants work on farms in Europe Australia or New Zealand for six or twelve months while wages offset travel costs. Autopac Motor Vehicle Agents to Close Early

Autopac will close all Motor Vehicle Country Agents at noon on August 31 to transition to the new system. Branch offices in Winnipeg and the Portage Avenue office remain open August 31. Agents reopen September 1 with new forms and procedures. Autopac coverage begins November 1.

Ambulance Plan Shared Financing By Local Bodies

Representatives from Rural Municipalities of Blanshard Hamitoa Miniota Woodworth the Village of Hamiota the Hamiota Lions Club and Hamiota Hospital District Board met on August 12 1971 to discuss financing of a Community Ambulance Service The five municipalities along with the Hospital Board will share equally the cost with funds raised by the clubs and organizations to equip the vehicle The Lions Club turned the project over to the Hospital District Board An Ambulance Committee was formed at the August 19 Hospital Board meeting with elected representatives from each council to establish policies and oversee operations of the ordered ambulance

Baldwin Family Gather For Birthday Visit At Bert Farm

Fourteen members of the Baldwin family gathered at Bert's farm on August 14 to celebrate Art Baldwin's birthday. Attendees included Mrs Ethel of Hamiota Mrs Frank of Nottingham England Mrs Art of Saskatoon and Mrs Bert. After ten days visiting Bert they left Sunday with Doris Youngs to spend a few days in Winnipeg. They noted a smashing good time in the U S A and Canada and would not mind living in Hamiota. Myrtle Johnson left Saturday to reside at Heritage Lodge. In Winnipeg Margaret Smith of Shoal Lake and her daughter Lisa with Mrs Keith Cosens also visited from Stonewall Manitoba Mrs Edith Foxton visited with her daughters Mrs Steel and Miss Fraiser from Winnipeg at the home of Mrs J Morrice.
