The Neepawa Press condemns Tag Day fundraising as a graft to profit from illness. It cites the 25 000 collected for a hospital and accuses Winnipeg spéculators and sanitarium owners of diverting funds for dividends. The piece mocks charity professionals as preying on suffering.
A fire in Boston's wholesale lumber district on August 9 destroyed Blocker and Shepherd yards at Toon and Albany Streets. Losses surpassed 1.9 million dollars as the blaze grew to major proportions and prompted a general alarm, the first since 1872, ten minutes after the initial call.

The Rural Municipality of Miniota council met August 6 at Turner's Hall with the reeve presiding and full attendance. They read the prior minutes and debated matters including a By-law consolidating Sarahville and Miniota schools, road work, telephone wiring, and land terms for a road along the GTP and CPR. Carried items include delaying consolidation, routing a surveyor for road plans, and instruction to install and adjust phones for Isabells and TJ Kennedy's shop.
