Beet web worms threaten Manitoba crops across the south
Agricultural news reports D R Robertson warning farmers that beet web worms have migrated from the international boundary to Riding Mountain National Park. The pests are attacking flax and garden crops in addition to sugar beets and sunflowers, with large numbers invading clover and rape and affecting cereal weeds. He urges immediate Toxaphene treatment at three pounds per acre and stronger spraying to curb the infestation within about ten days to prevent a second generation in late August.
