Estevan’s Building Boom Spurs Downtown Expansion
Estevan enters a building boom with five new large structures under construction and multiple renovations downtown on Fourth Street. Projects include a $30,000 two storey Woolworth-adjacent building across from Symons Grocery, a $35,000 two storey office block by RK L Bamford and Company, and a new Elks Club with modern rooms and banquet hall. The post office in finishing stages on Third Street, plus a half dozen other expansions, reflect a city-wide push to add permanent, high-profile facilities as 1,200 workers presently toil and Montreal welders head in for the Boundary Dam project.
