Visit from Mrs Hogeland and son in Brandon

I Sazaras built a new home as a frost touched August 7. Sons arrived at J Chisholm and C E Wythe homes. T Conway closed his business and moved to Winnipeg. T A Neelin became Brandon schools superintendent. A Miniota swimming carnival drew crowds and a large prize list at the Birtle tennis event. 21 baseball teams played Elkhorn, rain halted play. In 1924 municipal finances showed 52000 in tax arrears and 2715 in unpaid telephone rentals. Municipal schools enrolled 497 pupils, 103 in high school, 75 took exams with a 74 per cent pass.

Weeds rob farmers’ incomes in prairie wheat fields

Hi. G. L. Strange argues weeds reduce yields by about 25 percent by consuming moisture. With plenty of rain this year, prairie farmers can clear vast weed quantities through light cultivation after harvest, letting winter kill many plants and treating spring crops.
