United church honors Spalding and Lynch for service
The United church congregation saluted Mrs. A. Spalding and Mr. J. R. Lynch at a Thursday gathering. Gordon Long praised their musical contributions to church and community as gifts were presented, and the couple left for Brandon. Lynch had lived in Miniota since age eight and long served as Reeve.

Agreement to accept six or more Indian pupils at Kenton High School under tuition from Indian Affairs Branch at 20 per month per pupil. Yearly tuition statements to be submitted. Purchase of Canadiana for three+ classroom schools and Britannica for same. Local insurance tender inquiries invited.

Indian and Metis Children A Challenge for Teachers
Manitoba teachers take a special course to work with Indian and Metis children. Instructor Wilma Victor from Brigham City Utah guides them. The project aims to teach white language and values in a life vastly different from Metis upbringing. About 3,000 children receive academics and lessons in living skills.

Agriculture minister George Hutton says good-quality hay is available in border states at reasonable prices. Peter Harner is the liaison between buyers and U S sources, with contact at Whitehall and Chapel stockyards. William F Johnson dies after short illness in Burnaby
Former Hamida Decker district resident William Francis Johnson died in Burnaby BC hospital on Sunday July 16 after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife Ina Amy of Crandall and children Ramond Vancouver Patrick at home and Lorraine and Mrs Al Beverley Fischer Moosejaw plus a sister in North Bay Ontario and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held July 18 at 3:00 pm at Nunn and Thomsons Chapel Burnaby with Rev G A Barke officiating. Interment followed at Mountain View Cemetery.
