Miniota Gains Flag Station Status From Grand Trunk

The Miniota community learns that Grand Trunk Pacific will flag Miniota as a stop for No 2 Imperial Limited daily passengers bound for points east of Miniota. The notice follows the death of Mrs Jeremiah Leland an early settler who with her husband helped develop the district and raised eleven children. A funeral service was held at the Leland home and interment was at Arrow River cemetery.

Body of Chester Selwood Found After Six Week Search

After a six week search the body of Chester Selwood, drowned while bathing in the Assiniboine, was found about a mile below the Arrow River at 7.30 on Friday last. Er nest Fisher and W. Webster located the body and a recovery party, including Dr Chalmers KE, proceeded to bring the remains to the landing and then to the deceased’s mother’s home northwest of town for a funeral service.

Grand Trunk Eases Travel to Winnipeg Pleases Town

The Grand Trunk is favored by travelers from here to Winnipeg and the town thanks the company for its recognition of local patronage. A station would benefit both the Grand Trunk Pacific and the town.

Plans to Enlarge Hall Into an Opera House

The local hall owned by Mr H Turner will be enlarged and converted into an up to date opera house. Plans include a ten foot extension to the south side adding depth to the stage with dressing rooms. The extension will span the full width of the hall.

Saturday evening many acquaintances gathered. Revs Chapman and Beat tie officiated. Interment in Miniota cemetery.
