Rural Council Meeting Actions and Appointments
Council met with all members present. They approved paying Kane Equipment Co 15132 for tractor dozer and winch and assigned attendance to a Civil Defence meeting in Neepawa on April 25. They amended a grant transfer to 12,000 for road work, sought extra public works support for a bridge or large culvert, hired Ivan Armitage as road machinery operator, and announced tender advertisements for fuel oil and grease. They congratulated Councillor J J Morton on becoming vice-president of the Assiniboine River Control Organization and read by laws reconveying land and authorizing transfers. Adjourned.

Flood Threat Looms Along Assiniboine Valley Lands
The valley lands along the Assiniboine river are expected to flood this year with rising water levels. On Friday the river stood at 126 ft and on Tuesday at 17.8 ft, far above last year’s peak of 19.2 ft, while the Red and other rivers also cause trouble as peaks have not yet been reached.
