Mrs 8.1 Taylor is visiting at Oak Lake for a while. W Mossop left Monday night for Edmonton and other points in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Schools closed for Easter recess last Thursday and will reopen on Monday April 28. Mrs Falconer returned from Winnipeg last week and plans to reside in town soon.
United Stores Ltd promotes Simmer's Garden seeds with 4 packets for 25c and 20 packets for $1.00 at its Minnesota location. Beginning Thursday may 1 the stores close at 12 noon and the Thursday half holiday continues until further notice. A number of members from the local Sons of Fogland plan to participate in the St George’s Day celebration organized by Brand on lodge this Thursday.
Mrs J Gravet and daughter Frances and son John and Mr McCowan traveled from Winnipeg on Friday to visit Mr and Mrs Anly and Jim Grant, returning home on Sunday afternoon.
Provincial officials announced Monday May 12 as Arbor Day. In keeping with tradition, trees and shrubs will be planted across the province on that day.

Shoal Lake cribbage enthusiasts invite Miniota team to visit for a forthcoming game. Arrangements are underway to meet the request and schedule a match.
A pleasant evening at the High School Spring Term Party featured contests and original games enjoyed by a large crowd. Before leaving, attendees shared a short dance and a real nice lunch.
W M Taylor now in Victoria BC renews his Herald subscription and recalls forty years in his old home. The former Reeve of the municipality expresses best wishes for a prosperous year and appreciation for receiving The Herald. He hopes all enjoy the current year and sends regards to the paper and its readers.
Residents credit favorable wind direction for stopping a major blaze that began in the U G G elevator and spread to the coal dock ice house and oil shed. About 1500 bushels of grain were stored in the elevator and 35 tons of coal on the dock. Many witnesses observed the event.
