Old Time Piddlers Contest Supports March of Dimes
Local Oddfellows hosted the Old Time Piddlers contest with six entrants. C Milne Virden won first prize ten dollars, A Craigieay Oak River second five, R Kirk Hamiota third eight, J Chapman Isabella two, with other contestants Duke Harmsworth Virden. $80.70 net from door receipts after expenses.

Rural Council Allocates 1954 Road Crew Pay and Fuel Deals
A rural council meeting last Monday set pay rates for road machinery operators 1.25 per hour for operating and 1.25 for servicing with a 0.10 per hour bonus if the full season work is satisfactory. It named operators J L Walker M Saville J Hustok and D Balogh for the 1954 season and outlined fuel and lubricant contracts with C Lyng Crandall and Miniota Co-Op. Adjourned.

School Board votes on new continuation school and pay raise
A Monday board meeting approved a two room continuation school at Arrow River for 1954 55, raised public school teacher basic salary to 2100, studied Grade XI at Miniota for 1954 55, urged refresher courses for staff, set April 26 re opening after Easter, authorized 25 fee for Manitoba Urban School Association, and adjusted transportation rates with next meeting set for April 20.
