Eric Gibbon takes RAF ground crew training in Winnipeg while Alex Stewart visits in Durban with Mr and Mrs A Lindsay and friends. Several Winnipeg Norwood Kavanagh Alta Minn Edosa families visit Mrs W Evare. Political meetings occurred district wide with very poor attendance noted in reports.
Manitoba Volunteer Reserve drills set for Miniota hall on Thursday April 24 at 8 pm with rifles of calibre to be brought. Board to meet May 22 at 5 pm. Also mentions Royal Canadian Air Force recruiting 2500 men for night bombing defense training and radio technician programs across 13 Canadian universities.
The Minsota school board met on Saturday. W Lindsay and L Leland subscribed the oath and Lindsay was named chairman for another term. Resolutions cut transportation rates for Isabella and Miniota, with specific daily reductions from March 17 and April 21. L Leland elected to finance and teachers committees. Death of Ed Sinclaire noted. Field day scheduled at Isabella on May 30 with Finkbeiner Green Bonner Sunley listed as organizers.
The rural council of Minota met Friday and passed multiple measures including accepting A N Sawyer’s resignation as Ward 2 councillor, approving tax settlements for parcels in block 3, applying for road weight restrictions near Assinaboire bridge, assuming care for John L Hopkins at Eventide home, applying for Old Age Pension for unspecified residents, and authorizing soil and weed duties starting July with salary of 108 for July.
