Development Vacation Pay Proposed For Departing Employees
A bill proposed by labour minister Hon Obie Baizley would grant paid vacation to employees who work part of a year or leave within 12 months of a last vacation period. It would provide four percent of earnings for the period worked, replacing the current lack of compensation for unused vacation time. Existing rules grant two weeks of paid vacation after a full year, with exemptions for those under the federal labour code and certain workers in farms, ranches, markets, gardens, and private homes.
