Mrs A V Rowan Miss M Rowan and Frank Rowan visited Mr and Mrs G Curry at Burrows Saskatchewan during the past week.
A fragment notes the Miniote team loss by 73 points at Hamiota last Thursday. It adds a move by Mr and Mrs W Maddork and family to the former H MM Coxfarm near Crandall and mentions Mr and Mrs W Mackenzie relocating.

Mrs Hawthorne returns from Chicago as families host Visiting A Gurrs from Lenore and Portage la Prairie. A town meeting on Monday selected a committee to discuss abandonment of railway lines with MecConnall next Tuesday. Plans to present to the Board of Railway Commissioner. A council committee to oppose CN and CPR sections. Two old age pension applications recommended. Tax sale title to NW 16 16 26 to be pursued. Next meeting called by the Reeve.
The Miniota WI met with 19 members and 15 visitors. They approved buying new library books from Neepawa and discussed the Handicraft Loan Exhibit and a CKY visitor in October. Mr Brown from Brandon Experimental Farm spoke on bulbs and lawn care, with questions answered. A contest and lunch closed the meeting.
Delegations from Beulah Isa bella Crandall Arrow River and Miniota spoke with J Allison Glen K C member for Marquette on Wednesday about the Railways decision to abandon the Hallboro to Beulah CN line and the Ilamiota to Miniota CPR line. Glen promised to raise the issue with the Board of Railway Commissioners on his return to Ottawa. A meeting at McConnell was set for April 18 with delegates from each district to gather data and plan representation before the board. John Spalding was appointed general Secretary.
The Min iota rural council met Saturday with Reeve J R Lynch presiding. Resolutions include postponing tax sale on NW 22 15 26 until fall if one third of crop pays taxes and leasing several parcels on one third crop basis to named individuals for terms ranging from one year to three years with first crop due in summer.
A roundup of notices includes Marie Corelli's death in England and travel plans of Mr and Mrs G Kerfoot. Lord Tindall in U S Army service, altar at Holy Trinity dedicated, Frank LI Evans to Air Force training, Wheat Pool talk by Mr Martinson and opposing view by W Iverach. Miniota high pupils present A Midsummer Night's Dream under J W Beer. Radio message from Winnipeg to London marks a first in western Canada. 105th anniversary of the L0F celebrated in Minnesota United Church service led by Rev A Moffat with Odd Fellows and Rebekahs in attendance.
KH G L Strange argues that Western Canada bore a net financial burden during eight distress years, noting the Dominion Treasury paid 115 million dollars for Western aid while Prairie Provinces contributed about 47 million dollars yearly to the East through higher costs from tariffs. The piece counters claims that the West was a financial drain.
Miss Ina Beattie leaves Beulah to teach at Birnie Man while Miss E Morgan studies teaching at Blairs school for a month. Beulah Shoal Lake weekly mail service to start Wednesday this week. Members of the Women’s Institute met at Mrs. A Haney’s with 21 present. A dental clinic was planned for month end and talks on landscape gardening were shared.
