One-and-a-Half Step Wolf Ends Terror in Big River

The gaunt grey timber wolf known as One-And-A-Half Step, feared for 32 sheep and multiple livestock kills in the Big River Bodmin district, was found shot dead after injuries from traps and battles with farmers. Local hunter Alan Muir and a companion traced blood the next day to the carcass half a mile away. The wolf had suffered deformities, including a damaged front leg and a broken rear leg, slowing it from hunting wild prey and driving it to livestock. Dozens of shots had failed to stop its raids despite baiting and attempts to lure it with a dog mate. The predator’s demise ends a nine month rampage that terrorized farmers.
