Local fans saw Griswold Indians defeat Crandall 7 5 in a Thursday night hockey game. Hazen Chalbers played in goal for Crandall and faced steady pressure as Griswold mounted multiple scores.
John Spalding led a large group of municipal representatives at a Winnipeg meeting with the Premier to press for a return of liquor profits to municipalities and a cut in the Municipal Commissioner’s levy. The objective was not achieved, but officials hope the delegation may yield results. The government, like others, faces hard times and is holding on to existing revenues.
A large audience enjoyed the Gymnasium display in Miniota Hall on Friday. Boxing bouts featured Bert Clark vs Gordon Walker Fred Woods vs Jack Dart Homer Lelande vs Lorne Powell and Fred Court vs Syd Bell. The Junior Boys drill Jigs and Reels and senior Girls Girlie and Indian Club Swinging impressed spectators. After the program a dance followed and two winning cake tickets were drawn H Kirton 21 and A Powroz nik 80. The committee thanks the public for support and A Leland for tea.
Wednesday evening the United Church Young Peoples Society met in the church basement for a program of hymn, prayer, Scripture reading by Marguerite Dart and a theme talk by Gwen Taylor.
