Millicent Institute seeks stronger local support and funds
The Millicent Institute faces a subscriber shortfall despite district growth. The balance sheet shows subscriptions lag behind room hires, with over £86 spent on books and library upkeep versus £57 1s from subscribers. The public pays about £78 in room hires, yet total costs remain under £5 beyond salaries and lighting. The committee urges district canvassing to double subscriptions, arguing the institution’s public education role warrants broader funding. The stage and room facilities are aging, with public accommodation deemed insufficient.
