Market Report on Skins Hides Cattle Sheep and Pigs
The market opened with limited buyers and sales difficult to secure against last week’s lower rates. Prices for skins include merino full wool 53d to 64d and crossbred 2d to bid, rabbit skins 6d to 7d, kangaroo and wallaby quotes, furs 26 to 2s 6d, and fox skins 3s9d to 4s. Hides show green ox hides 3s1 to 7s, salted heavy and light weights varied, with calfskins and other stock listed. Fat cattle yarded with prime bulls to 16s 10d and cows up to 10 10s, sheep with prime merino wethers at 28s to 25d, crossbred wethers 21s to 23s, lambs 17s 6d to 19s, and pigs 585 penned.
