London Wool Sales Prices at High Levels in 19th Century Auction

Details from Messrs. John Grice & Co show varied prices for grey combing wool, bellies, ewes, lambs, and crossed types across multiple stations including Narracoorte Monbulla Bangham and Kybybolite. Prices range from 8d to 14d per unit, with numerous lots of 6 to 20 bales and multiple classifications such as 1st pes, 2nd pes, and mixed lots, reflecting strong activity in the wool market.

State Export Department earns half year surplus amid drought

In the Assembly Mr Coneybeer questioned the half year ending December 1898. Mr Butler said the Department exceeded expenses with a surplus of £860, about 8 percent on its £20,000 capital. The minister noted drought hurt profits in prior years while government spending reached about £20,000 this year. Kidman Bros. remain major exporters shipping thousands of sheep and cattle monthly from Port Adelaide. Willyama sails to Freemantle with 4,800 sheep and 110 cattle. Rainfall in New South Wales last week varied across regions from 1.10 inches to 1.90 inches in places.

Australia win by ten wickets in Oxford match

Australia defeated Oxford Past and Present by ten wickets after a June 23 start against Leicester. In the first match Australia posted 194 with Gregory top scoring 66 not out and Worrall 100 not out in the second innings as Australia declared on 177 for 3. Leicester were bowled out for 95 in their first innings and 28 in the second, with Noble taking 7 for 15 and Jones 3 for 5.

Auction Report: Wool and Hide Prices Steady on Strong Demand

At the June 22 sale Gotpssroves Morr & Co. report robust attendance and keen bidding. Firm prices favored sellers across 263 bales of wool and assorted hides. Private sales since the last auction bring total sales for March to date to 2,038 bales, with competition noted in tanned skins and mohair goods.
