The Port Hope adjourned inquest into Mrs J R Hooper's death in 1893 met at the YMCA Hall and again adjourned to the Opera House. Dr Ellis testified no poison was found though prussic acid was suspected. verdict delivered at about 5 this morning naming Georges Malo Hooper as the deceased.
A Joliette jury verdict leaves Quebec authorities to determine the cause of death in a suspected murder case. The Crown claims sufficient evidence to show cause and responsibility, while the defense asserts proving a crime cannot proceed without determining the death cause. The case, likened to Birchall, remains legally intricate as proceedings resume.

Rev John Ewing led Centreville appointments and attended Omemee Presbyterian anniversary services.
The Rev. Mr. Ewing of Mount Pleasant led the Presbyterian pulpit in the absence of Rev. Mr. Cattanach who preached at Omemee. Messrs. Moore, Bonar, and Samuel Might with son returned from the Northwest. Mr. Martin's building nears completion, and Miles Hutchinson plans a new shoe shop. Prayer meeting grows, Salvation Army from Squirrel Bridge may hold future meetings here. I O F Centreville Lodge shows ongoing interest with last Tuesday’s monthly meet.

Given replies humbly recalling twelve years of growth, the lodge’s building progress, and the value of fraternal duty while expressing gratitude and best wishes for prosperity.
St Louis reports that American Express General Manager Antisdell confirmed a $22,000 theft from a money package stolen from a time lock safe between New York and Cleveland. Detectives pursue an organized gang along rail routes, with important clues guiding the case.
