Miss Katharine Petre daughter of Mr and Mrs Joseph Petre Port Hope and Mr David Horne of Port Hope married in Port Hope United Church on Saturday afternoon March 4. The bride’s mother Katharine, formerly of Millbrook, is daughter of the late George C Ellsworth. The Hor nes will reside in Port Hope.
Mr and Mrs J Thomas Huyton announce the engagement of their daughter Angela Elizabeth of Millbrook to John Stanley Packman son of Mrs Marjorie Packman of South Monaghan. The marriage is set for St Thomas Anglican Church Millbrook on Saturday April 22 1961.
Miss Ethel Blanche Hatherly, 71, formerly of Millbrook, died Tuesday after a long illness. Born in Douro Township to the late John and Mrs. Hatherly, she leaves sisters Bertha Jones of Toronto and Mary Jones of Port Hope, a brother Irwin Hatherly of Millbrook, and nieces and nephews H Best, Ross Jones, A Tapper, David and Evans Hatherly. A lifelong United Church member.
Dr M E Hobbs presented Millbrook High School with a large Atlas of Canada published by the Department of Mines and Technical Surveys Ottawa 1957. The gift reflects long standing support of Millbrook's students by the Hobbs family and was gratefully received by Principal Hodgson and staff.
Postmaster Howard Lancash ire and Public Utilities Chairman attended the Municipal Electric Utilities Conference in Toronto last week. Ken 4rin k T. Me bid Netthey joined early this week for the talvalcade of Beauty, sponsored by the Allied Beauty Association, in Toronto. A well known Toronto trumpeter and a CBC radio performer are highlighted by a Variety Showcase on the Trans-Canada network featuring vocalists and bands from Canada.
After completing training in hairdressing two local young women have accepted positions in Cobourg Miss Gail Olan daughter of Mr and Mrs Stan Olan trained in Toronto Sharon Blencowe of Cavan trained in Hamilton We congratulate them and wish them well in their positions.
