Durham and area 4-H club meeting schedule changes

Hog cholera warning for Durham County hog herds

Farmers in Durham County should watch swine for signs of illness and contact their local veterinarian, A. O. Dalrymple of the Ontario Department of Agriculture. The Canada Department points to hog cholera in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec with 1100 hogs slaughtered on three premises. Quarantines affect at least three Durham County herds. buyers are advised to avoid purchasing pigs for 30 days and to buy only from known local farmers who have not recently introduced swine. Market hogs will be sold through Hog Producers Assembly Yards under federal meat inspection.
