Diver from St John Dies in Harbor Attempt

Geo E Pike aged 18 of St John West died Wednesday at the mouth of St John Harbor. He leaped from the breakwater in a double somersault, landed flat on his stomach, and suffered internal hemorrhage. His brother Harry and another man rescued him and he died minutes later.

Massachusetts Auto Fatalities Top Sixty Two in Year

Despatch from Boston reports 62 people killed by autos in Massachusetts in the year ending today per the Safe Roads Automobile Association first annual report. Of the dead, 21 were inside vehicles and 41 pedestrians. The group formed in 1907 aims to reduce dangers of careless driving and 640 persons were seriously injured.

Niagara Falls jumper parachutes from bridge to river

A crowd of over 2,000 at Niagara Falls Ontario watched Robert Leech of Chippewa leap from the upper steel arch bridge at 1:10 PM. He opened a parachute, slowed to a gentle splashdown, swam to the Canadian shore, and was rescued in minutes. Leech, 45, has a history with rapid trips and may attempt the stunt again.
