A Hamilton lad named Cummings died from wounds after a Friday morning fight at the McPherson shoe factory. Kirkpatrick allegedly seized a knife during the scuffle and stabbed Cummings in the face. Cummings died about midnight after initially appearing not seriously hurt. Kirkpatrick was arrested on a wounding charge and may face a more serious count.

A Brampton family suffers a fatal outbreak as James Fallis Sr. dies December 28 from erysipelas and blood poisoning, his son-in-law Alex Brad dy dies January 8 after contracting the disease, and Mrs Fallis, aged 70, dies soon after eight o'clock Thursday night.
