Millbrook reports the winter term at the Commercial School opens January 4. Rev W G Keith delivers India themed address at Anniversary services. Dr T H Hassard ships a line of Clydesdale horses from Glasgow. Local legal changes, accidents, and notices fill the page with community updates and visits from officers.
The lodge at No. 79 elected officers including W M L Russell, D M Thos Leith, Rec Sec J L Byam, Fine Sec W D Leach, Dof C Chap W P Rogers, and lecturers G Fowler and J Coats. A hearty supper followed. Local society notes mention visits, a telephones expansion, church events, and a charity bazaar that raised 170.
Anniversary services at St Thomas Church Millbrook on Sunday December 13 at 10 30 a m and 7 p m include dedication of chancel furnishings a memorial to the late Rector the Venerable Archdeacon Alen with Altar Feeles Bishop's Chair and Sedilia Choir assisted by Mr Sills tenor Trinity College Toronto and Mr Fred Waterman will take part in the evening Service of Praise Archdeacon Warren will preach Holy Communion and offertory follows. Mrs Elizabeth Rutherford Shield born 1836 in Cavan Township died Monday November 36th at the home of her son C H Shield Mount Pleasant. Survived by sons Councillor W R Shield and C H Shield and daughters Mrs Jos Best Emily and Mrs Porter Gray Linden Valley. Funeral Wednesday at Shield Cemetery conducted by Rev H W Mounteer and Rev Mr Quinn. She was a faithful Methodist and long helped others.
In Cavan on Monday November 30 1908 a son was born to Mr and Mrs Jas Hutchin. In Millbrook on Wednesday December 1908 a son was born to Rev and Mrs Alex Allen.
The Rev W H Vance rector of the Church of the Ascension Toronto will lect ure on impressions of the Pan Anglican Congress in St John s church Cavan Thursday evening the 17th at 7 30 and in St Thomas room Millbrook Friday the 18th at 7 30 there will be a collection to defray expenses Vance a London delegate to the congress is a well known local figure in the community
