Howard.Carlisle, Ind.■leaf Mother: —Since 1 came back from my leave I leave been rather unusually busv for I have had ehaige of the department in which I am working, letting theother fellow take his leave. Butnow that he is back I haven’t quite so* much to do but still have plenty.I suppose you have been reading of the great work of the Americans over here and really, judging from the reports in thepapers and also from the French soldiers who have been withhave had her vision. On this spot the French people haveerected a very beautiful cathedral as a monument to her.Then too. I have visited the cities of Toul and Nancy both quite historical places but rather battered in some place now and are very good towns still. Was in Nancy for the Fourth of Julycelebration and I will say it wasas good as many I have seen inthe states.I am very sorry that I cannot tell you lots more but I will have to close now anyhow.Your loving son,Sgt.
