Previous patrol activity had revealed the ixi stance of two entrenched hostile nachine gun emplacements beyond he company lines. These emplace-nents were protested hy an intricate letwork of anti-personnel mines, jooby traps and riflemen.As a- member of an eight-man patrol Private White set out to probe the ?nemy positions. Upon receiving the signal for the assault he rushed for-.vard through the mined and boody rapped field, delivering intense and iccurate fire against the hostile postions. The enemy, surprised and over-vhelmed hy this .bold action on the art of Private White and his com-ades, was forced to surrender.The personal courage, skill and in-tiative displayed by Pvt.
