The body was brought to his home here Sunday morning. He enlisted in the U. S. Naval Reserves in July, and was called to the, colors but four weeks ago. He was but 18 years of age, a native son of Maynard, a patriot who entered the service of his country as soon as he reached the required age.Francis King was too young to have made his mark in the business, civic or social life of the community, but he responded to the call of country in her hour of trouble, when defenders were needed and his name will live among tho heroes of Maynard who died in the service in the world war.Another gold star was added to Maynard’s honor roll by his death. When the roll is read each year on the day dedicated to the memory of our dead heroes, his will be among the first who gae their life for coun* try. Eager to serve and fight for his country, he left the protection of 'his home and gave his all.The family who mourn the loss of a son and brother may be sustained in their grief with the thought that the nation, state arid community join with then! in their hour of distress at the loss of a brave son and an American patriot.Besides his parents he is survived by five brothers, Fred, Louis, Leander, Walter and Thomas and two sisters, Mrs. Charles Houghton and Mrs. George Bickford.Funfral services were held Tuesday morning.
