General Leese Hears From LethbridgeOfficer In Italy How Bofors OperatedBy DOUGLAS AMABON(Canadian Press War Correspondent.)WITH THE CANADIANS IN ITALY, March 3.-~^~Lt.-Gen, Sir Oliver Leese has seen at ftrst hand something of the Canadian artillery supporting the campaign in eastern Italy. Driving his open touring ear, he made a one-day tour recently of artillery unite with the Canadian Corps under his command.The commander inspectedheadquarters, gun positions and climbed down into gun pits to talk to the gunners.At the headquarters of a light anti-aircraft regiment he examined a Bofors gun and heard from the troop commander, Capt R. T. Craddock of Lethbridge, Alta., how it operated,At a field regiment he met battery commanders and other officers.The general looked over troop positions and at each of three guns the army commander climbed down j to the pits to talk to the crews.In the third pit he talked to Gnr. Stanley Frost, Eapid City, Man.Capt, Craddock is the son of Mr. and Mrs, E. Craddock of this city, and was bom and educated in thecity. He was a member of the local militia before the outbreak of the war and when the war broke out he went active with the 20th Battery, R.CA. He was commissioned in August, 1040. He went overseas in March. 1941, and is now in Italy*
