CIVILIANS ACTIVE IN TRAINING OF CADETSBy Pvt Bin Wad*On the ground and in the air cere teaching in the ground school civilian instructor* are playing an ‘important part in training Minter Field cadets during their nine weeks at this Air Force basic flying school.Fifteen civilians are now connected with the field's ground school, where they teach meteor-ology, navigation, radio communication, link trainer, and engines and structures. And recently the flying school added a civilian, Harold N. Konineu, to tne group of flying officers who train the cadets.“In the ground school we have used at least 10 civilians* for more than a year, and they are a highly effective group. Captain R E. Horton, director of ground training pointed out. 4'“The War Department hires them because they are specialists in their line* and their use enables the Air Force to release officers, who otherwise would be instructing, for other duties.
