A Grandfather Eligible For U. S. Draft ServiceSHERMAN.—Uncle Sam will train a Grayson County grandfather for his army if “Grandad” Ernest V. Jay, 205 East Mulberry, is called to the colors.Jay has a grandson born Jan. 1, 1940, who is now a year and a month old. Eddie Wayne is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hughie Stilwell of Bells. The baby’s mother is Jay’s daughter.When Jay registered on Oct. 16, he lacked only two and a half months of being 36, the age of exemption. He was born Dec. 30, 1904.Will Leslie, supervisor of draft board No. 2 (Sherman) believes Jay is the only grandfather on his draft rolls. Jay is an automobile salesman and was formerly a Sherman policeman. His order number is 1426.
