McWhorter Completes Great Lakes TrainingUnited States Navy Machinist Mate Third Class Michael McWhorter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don McWhorter of Brownfield, has com pleted training at the U.S. Naval Training Center at Great Lakes.Mike Mew horterIllinois.At graduation exercises December 23, Me Whorter was appointed as petty officer thirdclass.McWhorter maintained a 96.7% average in the training as a machinist.McWhorter will be home for Christmas and will depart January 8 for Brooklyn Naval Yard in New York aboard the U.S. Charlston. He will depart May 23 for Orlando, Florida, where he will enter the U.S. Navy Nuclear Propulsion School before he enters the U.S. Navy Fleet for sea duty as a nuclear propulsion machinist a-loard one of the U.S. Naw's newest nuclear powered submarines.
