Red Cross Pigs.On Monday the farmers of Post township, with but few exceptions, brought in the Red Cross pigs which they ha dsignecl lip for earlier in the summer. In all 90 pigs were delivered to the loea stockyards which totalled 1(3,540 lbs., or an average of 167 lbs. each. Henry Wilke brought in the . heaviest one, weighing 870 lbs. Ace Candec who lives in the Hardin neighborhood was the only farmer from Clayton county delivering a pig to Postville. 'Several farmers an; keeping their pig until it is , fatter and some gave cash instead of j a pig. Altogether the Postville Chapter will realize between $2,500 and $8000 from this source, which goes to show that the Post township farmers i as a wlioe is very much inclined to : help bring comfort to the boys who have bi ought the world conflict to a I i victoriou sfinish. |
