Second Annual Event Held at Chautauqua Park Attended By More Than Fifty.;! The second annual reunion of Hos-1 pital Unit R which closed Sunday e night at Chautauqua park, was a de-s eidedly successful affair.I About 75 per cent of the member-y ship of the outfit was present. The majority arrived for the opening pro--1 gram Saturday afternoon and others »! followed early Sunday.| On Saturday the unit members and 3 ; guests attended the Jefferson county * fair races. In the evening a reception was given by the people of Fairfield in the auditorium of the park.A program of stunts and music was presented by members of the unit, portraying in real and burlesque fashion the life of the outfit in Contrexe-ville, France, where they spent over thirteen months of active service during the World war.Col. James F. Clarke of this city commander of the unit, was presented with a solid silver platter by the personnel in recognition of his services with the unit. The presentation speech was made by E. A. Power of Cleveland, 0., a member of the unit.Dr. Frank M. Fuller of Keokuk made an address in Which he praised , tne work done in France by the nurses r I and men of the outfit. During the war this unit helped maintain a hospital that took care of 10,000 American and allied patients. .Stereopticon slides of the life in Contrexeville and other pieces in France where the unit was stationed, scenes at Fort McPherson, where the outfit trained and views on the ocean going over and coming back, as well as the victory welcoming arches in Ottumwa, Burlington, Des Moines and other places were shown.Dr. J. F. Clarke was re-elected president. Miss Amy Beers was chosen as secretary.
