SWOp .lt;N — Michele Purkaple of Texas City is sworn into the Women’s Marines at arecent ceremony. She left on July 12 for an eight week training period at the Woman Marine Training Base, Parris Island, South Carolina. Michele is a graduate of Texas City High School and a former employee of the Daily Sun. Michele’s future plans following her two year enlistment in the U.S. Marine Corps is to take full advantage of her GI Bill Benefits and continue her education for the college degree she desires.
