USS Rupertus. Recently, while on a shore bombardment mission along the fortified port ofHungnam, the Rupertus rescued adowned Navy pilot by maneuvering in under the Communist gun emplacements to pick up the pilot whowas forced to “ditch” his plane after being hit by enemy flak. A release from UN Forces, Korea, through Fleet Home Town Center^ Great Lakes. Illinois, states that Anderson entered the Navy on January 8. 1951. and that the Rupertus crew during her tour of duty hgyevisited Pearl Harbor. Midway, Yokosuka and Sasebo, Japan; Okinawa, Keelung and Kaohsiung, Formosa. ’
