The London Gazelle reports the equestrian statue of Sovereign was dedicated today in London near the fort on a proper pedestal facing the main street. Lieutenant Governor and Council members, city magistrates, clergy, assembly members, and leading inhabitants attended. General Gage and army officers were present as the crowd cheered and fired 34 cannons after drinking the King's health.
The General Assembly of the province met at Harvard College in Cambridge. A government order moved the Assembly to Boston, but the Lieutenant Governor prorogued them to September next after a tense exchange. The House answered to return to business and uphold the non-importation stance amid ongoing tensions with merchants and colonial leaders.
Philadelphia reports a letter from Cape Fear dated July 6 describing Indian attacks on Virginia and prompting concern for Southern Provinces. A separate note from New York August 9 mentions New York merchants who traveled to Philadelphia via Woodbridge and did not receive a hearty reception.
Fragmented OCR text mentions England Scotland Ireland and France with scattered terms like Pats, Temples, Arms, and a reference to a board and senate. The readable portions hint at a discussion of truth, navigation, and identity but lack coherent narrative or dates. Entities include England Scotland Ireland France and a board or senate. The overall sense is unclear.
