A Middlesex era reform appeal pleads for united action to defend liberties against royal oppression. The speaker condemns corrupt ministers, praises petitioning as a right, and cites 1680 parliamentary rights and 1689 committee findings on obstructing petitions to rally readers to insist on immediate redress and lawful petitioning for the king.
The piece discusses petitioning the throne as a safeguard against arbitrary rule, noting how ministers exploit complaints to attack the crown. It argues kings fear losing prerogatives as subjects fear losing liberties, and that divisions between king and people enable power grabs.
The piece scorns Lordship for alleged public mismanagement and corruption linked to money and power. It cites debates over taxation and misused funds, mentions Wilkes and Musgrave, and notes disturbances in Wiltshire and Bristol tied to political strife and public protest. It also covers maritime trade tensions and local incidents, including a theft and a death, all framed in a turbulent national climate.
A damaged OCR fragment mentions Se Shee and oppréfion related terms. The readable bits suggest a local notice or brief item but lack clear names, dates, or actions to confirm.
