Paris Secrets and Musgrave Testimony in Commons
In a House of Commons session on January 29 1770 Dr Musgrave testified about secret intelligence he claimed to have received in Paris in 1764. He described discussions with Stuart Hartley and others and alleged a peace sale involving money shares to Princess, Lord Holland, and Lord Bute. The debate questioned the credibility of Musgrave and Halifax and ended with a motion that Musgrave's accusations against the Earl of Halifax were frivolous, the doctor returning to the country.
