Robber Attacks in Cork and Curragh Near Mile-house
On Friday night in Corke on Kerry Road near the city two gentlemen were robbed of watches and cash. Nearby Edmond Barret of Curragh was attacked by the same robber near the Mile-house after paying a few shillings. Barret seized the man and retrieved a pistol case before the robber fled. The culprit is described as tall and capable, wearing buckskin breeches, boots, a bearskin coat, and a black hat. the pistols are notably long.

In York May 30 news notes the Rev Chadwick Hepworth B A of Trinity College Cambridge was presented to Fylingdales living by the Archbishop. Last week Edmund Barker of Potter Newton married Miss Walker eldest daughter of Haigh Walker a Leeds woolstapler. Agnes Burton, greatly regretted, died last Wednesday.

Information of Sir William Meredith 1769 oath case
The Middlesex Journal records on May 13 1769 an oath by Sir William Meredith that he was informed on February 2 that Miles Burton Allen sought the two MPs who had harmed him. Meredith reports meeting Humphrey Coates who said Captain Allen wished to speak to him. At Parliament Coffee House Allen confronted the informant and, after leaving, asked his name. On being affirmed as Sir William Meredith Allen accused him of liberties with his character and threatened action.
