My Life Story of Love Faith and Duty in 18th Century Faith
In 1794 after four years away I moved from London to Whitehaven to labor in the circuit and found Miss Johnson, my wife in waiting, a steady member of our society. We reunited from childhood drawing and writing schools and a youthful dance that I later regretted, yet our bond strengthened as we married on September 29, 1795. Our prospects and a wealthy guardian’s support did not sway us from our ordained path, and we chose duty over worldly ease. Before leaving Whitehaven I buried my father who died in faith, and I carry forward with a loving partner, sharing fifteen years of devoted companionship and pious service to our family and community.
