CROPS AND PASTURE AND CAPITAL NEEDS
The author argues poor crops stem from insufficient capital to run a farm. If partnership or financing with father is unavailable, work elsewhere to save money. When buying a farm, capital should earn at least as much as possible in the bank, accounting for higher risk. The farm should also provide a salary at least equal to alternative earnings.
Fragmentary reminiscence on struggle and pride
A fragmented reflective piece argues trouble tests worth and self restraint, claiming struggle shapes character and bearing pain leads toward peace. The text hints at personal suffering, defeat, and a fatal outcome as a grim contrast to effort and resilience.
