Antimony discovery near Coimadai teased by locals
The 1872 report notes William Bennett of Coimadai securing a lease for 50 acres where antimony ore rich in antimony and often containing gold was found near Djerriwarrh Creek close to the Hjorth residence. Bennett plans to mine and export rough ore to England, with a possible future company formation. Mrs Essenreigh is credited as the discoverer of the antimony roof.
