Myrniong New Year Race Meeting May Fall Silent
The longstanding New Year race meeting at Ingliston is unlikely to be held on New Year’s Day as committee members expect the event will lapse due to waning local interest and damp harvest weather. The new Ingliston estate owner plans sub dividing the property and fences the track, making future racing impossible. A sports meet in Myrniong Park could replace the day to benefit the Red Cross, while farming notes warn of rust, advanced oat harvests, and drought risk as grazing looks well but drought may threaten summer.
