Orange Celebration Marks Glorious Twelfth Gathering
Orangemen of the Carrot River Valley held a Melfort celebration with lodges from Ridgedale Tisdale Star City Pleasant Valley and Kinistine in attendance The procession moved to the town hall square where Rev Cross Star City and Rev W R Tanton spoke on Orange principles The program included sports at Agricultural Showgrounds with races hockey and baseball Pleasant Valley won the baseball tournament and the Ridgedale fife and drum band took first in the contest About 200 autos joined the event and crowd size was strong despite lower turnout than Domision Day.

The Pleassot Valley Red Cross held its regular July meeting at Mrs. Redman’s home. Members donated clothing and socks and agreed to send 14 00 to headquarters. proceeds from a Presbyterian Ladies’ Aid concert supported lunches. The next meeting is planned for August 14 at Mrs. Rupert Brown’s home.

Transact Only Routine Business At Town Meeting
Town council met Monday with Mayor Moore presiding. Reports were filed, bids rejected for a car of lumber not meeting specs, and a new car ordered. A tele phone booth for the Ozark hotel rotunda was favored as a public convenience with quotations to be obtained. Electrical extension estimates total about 230. Salaries for James Bell and Miss Marion Steel were raised to 100 and 50 monthly respectively. Sheriff sent a $1350 receipt on the Smart judgment. about $5000 remains to wipe out the liability per Secretary Greenwood. A milk sample was sour. analysis could not be completed. A sewer connection for T Harris was discussed with little near-term action. The wilk bylaw was reconsidered and a committee to discuss assessment matters was requested by Smart but nothing further occurred. Dominion Day Association pledged 200 for future celebrations. A crossing request by A E Eastman was referred to the board of works.

Trained Animal Show Coming to Melfort
Hugo Bros. Shows bring a trained animal spectacle featuring ponies monkeys pigs and elephants. The program includes drills marches dances and other evolutions performed by tame animals and their handlers. Clowns and a large crowd are promised as the troupe appears in Melfort with afternoon and evening performances.

Death Comes Suddenly To Beatty Farmer
Henry Carlson a well known farmer living three miles northwest of Beatty died Tuesday afternoon after collapsing in his yard in extreme heat. His burial will be Thursday at Zion cemetery.
